For years, we have watched one family overcome extraordinary hardships. A devoted mother, a hardworking father, and their six children were living together in a single, cramped room. Every day was a struggle to provide enough food, clothing, and the necessities of life. When our team first met them, we knew they needed more than temporary assistance. They needed someone to walk alongside them and help them build a better future.

Through The Village of Hope Romania, we began providing food, clothing, medical assistance, and opportunities for the children to attend summer camps. Slowly, we watched their lives change. The two oldest children completed their education and found steady employment. Their younger siblings began excelling in school. Their father worked tirelessly in the city, returning home each evening to a family filled with laughter, love, and renewed hope.

After years of hardship, this family was beginning to thrive. But just recently, tragedy struck. Their father suffered a heart attack and passed away in the middle of the night. In an instant, life changed.

Their grief is overwhelming, and the uncertainty of what lies ahead has brought new challenges. Yet, even amid this heartbreaking loss, we see the strength this family has developed over the years. And once again, The Village of Hope Romania is standing beside them.

We cannot prevent every tragedy, but together, we can make sure vulnerable children and families do not have to face life’s most difficult moments alone.

As Thanksgiving and Christmas approach, our hearts are mindful of the children who have experienced loss, poverty, and uncertainty.

This Christmas, our goal is to provide gifts for 200 children in our support program.

For many of these children, Christmas is not a season of beautifully wrapped presents and overflowing stockings. Their families are struggling simply to put food on the table and keep their children warm through winter. But with your help, we can bring a little Christmas joy into their lives.
