Summer Camp Preparations Are Underway

June 1, 2025
Our team in Romania has been hard at work over the past month, delivering essential care packages to the families we support. Right now, we are reaching over 72 families and 262 children, providing them with food, clothing, hygiene items, and other necessities. During each visit, our staff also take time to talk with parents, learning more about their needs and discussing which children are eligible and excited to attend summer camp this year. We’ll have a complete list of campers to share with you in our next update!
Summer Camp Preparations Are Underway
We are thrilled to announce that preparations for our summer camp in Călacea are in full swing! The facility has a spacious yard for outdoor activities and plenty of room to accommodate 40 children and staff members. Our team has been busy cleaning the facility, cutting the tall grass, and getting everything ready for camp to start in mid-June.
Last year, temperatures soared to over 110°F, so we had to get creative to keep the kids cool with water games, pool trips, and outdoor activities with sprinklers and water balloons. We’re planning similar activities this summer, ensuring the children stay safe and have fun despite the heat.
We expect to host around 160 children over the five weeks of camp, with 40 kids each week. Summer camp offers children an incredible opportunity to build confidence, make friends, and experience the joy of childhood—something many of these kids rarely get to enjoy.
Help Us Give Children a Summer of Hope
Summer camp is more than just a week of fun—it’s a chance for children to escape their daily struggles, form lasting friendships, and experience hope. Your support makes this possible!
• $40 sponsors one for child a day.
• $80 sponsors two children for a day.
• $280 sponsors one child for a week.
• $560 sponsors two children for a week.
• Any amount helps us reach our goal of welcoming 160 children to camp
Your generosity gives children more than a summer camp—it brings joy, healing, and hope.
A Special Visit from Debby Gass
We are also excited to share that Debby Gass, our CEO, will soon be traveling to Romania to reunite with Mariana and Francisc. This will be Debby’s first visit since the pandemic, and her last visit was with her late husband, Bob Gass. We know this upcoming trip will be deeply meaningful, and we can’t wait to share more about what Francisc and Mariana have planned during her visit.
With deep appreciation,
