“He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds.” Psalm 147:3 MSG
The story I am about to share with you involves the J family. It is tragic and sad and underscores the critical nature of our work with at-risk children and families at The Village of Hope Romania.
A few months ago, C. J, the mother of five, survived a brutal attack by her husband, who in a fit of jealous rage, and clearly suffering from severe mental health issues, attempted to take her life by stabbing her multiple times and then tragically took his own life by setting himself on fire.
During this violent episode, their 12-year-old son, D, witnessed the entire ordeal. C was left in critical condition in hospital. She is now home and has shown remarkable resilience as she continues her recovery journey, grappling with both physical and emotional scars.
This was not an isolated incident, but the climax of escalating domestic violence, where C was increasingly isolated and abused, her freedoms stripped away one by one by a man with whom she once shared a loving relationship.
Now, living at her mother’s home along with her children—15-year-old L, 12-year-old D, 4-year-old E, 3-year-old M, and 1-year-old R—she faces the monumental task of rebuilding her life and nurturing her children, who are deeply affected by the trauma. D, in particular, exhibits signs of severe PTSD and fear.
After being contacted by Child Protection Services, our team visited the J family to assess their needs and provide the necessary support. We offered both immediate aid on a practical level by providing food, clothing, and medical care, as well as long-term emotional and psychological support.
The path to healing for the J family will be long and fraught with challenges. However, with your continued support, we can ensure that C and her children receive the comprehensive care they desperately need.
Our caseload has increased significantly since moving our headquarters to Timisoara as more children and families need our help. We are currently serving 220 Children in 70 families.
As a result, we have doubled our monthly support to The Village of Hope from $10,000 to $20,000 per month. This will allow Mariana to hire two or three additional staff members, provide more food, clothing and aid packages to the children and families, as well as long-term counselling and rehabilitation services for families such as this.
This month I’m asking you to pray about giving give a special gift of $500.00 . . .$1,000.00 . . . $1,500.00 or . . . $2,500.00 to help us reach more children and families and cover our increasing costs.
Your monthly support helps us provide not just the basics of care but opportunities for JOY and HEALING that can make a significant difference in their lives.
I am grateful for your faithful prayers and support each month.
Changing lives together,
