Earlier this month, I shared the story of a 14-year-old boy whose life was forever changed because of Summer Camp at The Village of Hope Romania.

You may remember him—the young man living with his parents in a single small room, whose talent for drawing was discovered through a simple sketch on the wall of his home. While his family worried about survival and stability, he quietly dreamed of becoming an artist and architect.

It was during Summer Camp that something remarkable happened.

For the first time, he found adults who encouraged his gifts. He found friends who believed in him. Most importantly, he began to believe in himself.

Today, he has been accepted into the Art School in Timișoara and dreams of one day designing and building a home for his parents.

His story reminds us that Summer Camp is about so much more than games and activities.

It is about helping children discover hope. It is about building confidence where there was insecurity. It is about showing vulnerable children that their future can be bigger than their circumstances.

In just a few weeks, 160 children will arrive at Summer Camp 2026. Many come from homes affected by poverty, neglect, abuse, or family instability. For some, camp will be the highlight of their entire year. For others, it may be the place where they discover a dream they never thought possible.
