Summer Camp 2026 has officially begun! At the end of June, the first children arrived at camp filled with excitement and anticipation. Over the next four weeks, approximately 140 children will attend Summer Camp through The Village of Hope Romania. For many of these children, camp is more than games, swimming, crafts, and campfires. It is a place where confidence is built, friendships are formed, and futures begin to change.

Today, I want to share one story that perfectly illustrates why your support matters.

Years ago, when we first walked through the door of a tiny, single-room home, the weight of hardship was impossible to ignore. In that one room lived a mother, a father, and their six children. The space was cramped. The living conditions were difficult. Every day was a struggle to survive. But because of faithful supporters like you, they did not have to face those challenges alone.

Over the years, our support program became a lifeline for this family. Food assistance helped put an end to hungry nights. Warm clothing protected the children through Romania’s harsh winters. Medical care was available when sickness threatened their well-being. Most importantly, year after year, the children attended our Summer Camp.

There, they were given something many vulnerable children never experience—the opportunity to simply be children. They laughed. They played. They made friends. They discovered that their circumstances did not define their future.

Slowly, those experiences began to take root. Today, the picture looks remarkably different.

The two oldest children have completed school and entered the workforce. The younger siblings are thriving academically and rank among the top students in their classes. The father travels to the city for work each day, while the mother remains the heart of the home, helping guide the younger children in their studies.

Although they remain in our support program, they are no longer merely surviving. They are thriving. This family has found stability, confidence, and hope for the future.

And it happened because caring people like you invested in their lives year after year. You didn’t simply provide food, clothing, or camp scholarships. You helped give this family a future.

Now another 140 children are arriving at Summer Camp with their struggles, fears, and dreams. We need your help to make sure every child has the opportunity to experience the same life-changing impact.
