We have just wrapped up our final week of Summer Camp, and the impact on the children has been nothing short of transformative. The companionship, fun, hiking trips, campfires, singalongs, and Bible story times create lasting memories that change the lives of these children forever.
One of the most moving aspects of our camp is witnessing a child who has been neglected and abused to begin to open up, trust others, and form new friendships. This healing process is a testament to the power of love and community. Jesus said:
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” (Luke 18:16 NIV)
For 33 years, The Village of Hope Romania has been rescuing children from the streets, the sex trade, and abusive situations—thanks to your faithful love and support.
I want to share the story of the O family, a testament to the difference your donations make. This family, brought to our attention by International Social Services, consists of two grandparents in their fifties, their teenage son S, and their daughter’s children, M and G.
G was abandoned by his mother and was destined for a state institution. His grandmother, upon learning of his situation, rushed to the hospital, prayed, and promised to care for and raise him. M, also abandoned by her mother, has been under her grandmother’s care since she was 3 years old.
The family currently lives in an abandoned railway house in rural Romania. But despite their challenging circumstances, these grandparents have provided a loving and safe environment for the children.
Last year’s Summer Camp was a life-changing event for the O children. They loved it so much that they asked to attend again this year. The joy on their faces when we said yes was indescribable. S, who missed out last year due to his age, joined us this time and thrived.
As we approach the end of summer, your generous, tax-deductible donations are more crucial than ever. Your support enables us to continue making an impact on the lives of children like M, G, and S.
• We had 40 children attend this last week of Summer Camp:
We still have to cover the cost of food, transportation, and entrance tickets for excursions. Mariana put these final expenses on The Village of Hope credit account. Your gift of $25.00 . . . $50.00 . . . $100.00 . . . or $250.00 will cover these remaining costs for us.
• Essential needs packages:
Your gift of $55.00 will enable us to continue to provide a package of essential items for a child/family containing food, medicine, and hygiene items. Right now we have 220 children/families enrolled in our monthly program.
